Transformation
This project is a striking example of the fact that architecture and landscape are inextricably linked and are one whole. The site is always an extension of the house, there can’t be any exceptions.
At the beginning of the project, we were given the project of a house in the style of the early 2000s – stucco and sawed artificial stone on the facades, large windows, huge areas of the premises, high base in the lining of the same artificial stone. We had prepared a concept of site design for this house – flowing sandstone paths between the trees, shady forest flower gardens, lawns in the open areas, and a small area with a vegetable garden at the edge of the site, where the sunlight fell – everything matched the architecture of the building.
But the construction of the house took a little longer, and the clients together with the architect decided to change the look of the house, to breathe in a new modern solution. As a result, the house you see on the rendering was born. The facades have been completely transformed, there is natural stone, wood and lightweight window constructions. The house of several thousand square meters turned into a multi-volume very concise structure, which blends in seamlessly between the existing spruce trees. And we realized that the landscape proposed earlier had nothing to do with the new house and the concept had to be changed because it was completely inappropriate for the transformed house.
New architecture. New look. New purpose. New garden. The transformation of the house also benefited the garden – there were interesting elements on the site, which fit perfectly into the architectural solution, and gave it uniqueness. Thus appeared a floating platform with LED lighting next to one of the internal terraces of the house, there was an interesting body of water with a fireplace immersed in it. Sitting on couches in the seating area with a fire, you can put your hand behind the back of the couch and feel the pleasant coolness of the water. The main decorative function of the reservoir is a mirror to reflect the facade of the house, which enhances the aesthetic perception of architectural solutions. In winter, the pond turns into a wonderful skating rink for children.
The garden has acquired on new colours due to the sheared forms of plants and natural stone on the paths. A strict geometry of pathway shapes appeared, emphasizing the appearance of facades. And we broke the high plinth into several levels, creating level platforms, in which we integrated the plants and thereby visually lowered the height of the house.
